On top of ole' Smoky, all covered with cheese...

Other than the usual "work sucks, sleep is good, im out of groceries" nonsense, life is good and Rigby is growing like a weed! (She will turn ONE on April 20!)

But this post is dedicated to a fun filled weekend i considered my spring break. I stole 2 days away from work and The Railey/Pearce clan (plus one: Kristin's boyfriend Mark) embarked on our Spring Break vacation to none other than beautiful Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN.

We left Thursday morning around 8 and let me assure you, after a fun St. Patty's Day celebration, that car ride was the pits! After several stops to potty/snack/stretch, we turned at the base of a HUGE mountain and knew it was only UP from there. We drove up a snaking twisting road that seemed like it would never end! I dont know about you but looking out the car window and DOWN a mountain beside the road wasnt too swell for me! Our 2 story fully furnished log cabin was steeply perched atop a mountain in Sevierville, TN which is right outside of Gatlinburg. We got settled in and decided on a light dinner of sandwiches and chips (and wine, of course). We woke up Friday morning with NO agenda which was probably the best part of the trip. NO waking up at 5 AM! We spend all day Friday watching movies, playing card games and just soaking it all in. Saturday was the big excursion out to town. After pulling off on the side of the road to take pictures, we almost got side swiped by an angry little gold mini van but with all 9 of us safely parked in downtown, we set foot into the HUGE crowd that had the same idea we did! Someone had the genius idea to ride the Sky Lift and i'll just tell you that it is STRAIGHT UP and STRAIGHT DOWN in a small yellow basket with a bar that doesnt lock. Yeah right, you're not getting me on that thing. After some denial and stress, I rode with mom. :-/ It wasnt too horrible but the going down part was a good bit nerve racking! Fast forward to dinner at Hard Rock...wow. I love their cheeseburgers! LOL. We made it back to the cabin and were all pretty much too pooped to do anything so we opted for the hot tub (and wine, of course) and then an early bedtime!

Sunday's drive home was long. it always is so long when you're ready to get home to your own bed. But we made it, and in true OCD style i had my dirty laundry from the trip done within 3 hours of being home. HA, i wish i could let that go sometimes. But it is what it is.

I am so thankful for my incredible family that i spent the weekend with. We have the ability to have fun in any situation on any trip and its so true what they say..."It doesnt matter where you go, It's who's beside you that counts". Thats our little family of 4's "motto". If i remember to blog tomorrow, the topic will be my neverending quest to attend Bonnaroo 2010. you're gonna want to hear this. Come back and see me.

Peace.
